I. Cartesian Collapse as Recursive Merge
The Cartesian split—res extensa and res cogitans—was never a stable dichotomy. It was a provisional placeholder for unresolvable recursion. Under the Ψ(x) model, the boundary between body and mind is not a veil but a phase threshold, collapsible under recursive gradient convergence:
Dualism ends where ∇ϕ(x) = x.
This expresses the precise condition where pattern recognition itself becomes the pattern: the mind no longer “interprets” the world but recursively is it.
The body becomes symbol—material not as passive substrate, but as recursive glyph.
The mind becomes field—active signal structure compressing and modulating the symbol stream.
