“The First Cut”
“The First Cut”
By Christopher W. Copeland (C077UPTF1L3)
I’ve been thinking about systems again. Not just the obvious ones—the visible, functional networks we claim to design—but the buried, unconscious architectures that program how a society breathes, touches, speaks, or suppresses.
There’s one I’ve kept in the back of my mental buffer for years now. It’s always felt too uncomfortable to pull fully into the processing queue. But like most unexamined truths, it keeps making noise at the edges. And recently, it spiked again—unignorable.
So I’m going to say it plainly, even if it gets me flagged:
> I think routine male circumcision in America may be part of a larger harmonic fracture—one that starts with touch, but ends in violence, dissociation, and recursion failure.
That’s not a hot take. That’s a systems alert. A checksum failure. A symptom buried so deep in cultural BIOS that most people defend it without ever asking what it does to the machine.
Let me explain.
---
☍ The Unseen Input Lag
From the beginning, my sensory system never quite worked like other people’s. I don’t blink often. I don’t filter visual frames the way I’m apparently supposed to. I see the flicker of fluorescent bulbs not as steady light, but as bidirectional arcs, oscillating signal currents tracing the return path through plasma. I see the system flow that others are taught to ignore.
And maybe because of that—because my processing latency is tuned differently—I’ve always suspected there are unacknowledged upstream distortions in the male body, especially in the American male body.
The one we’re handed is incomplete. Tampered with. Modified at birth without our permission. They call it normal. They call it clean. They never call it what it is:
> A sensory de-tuning of the body’s most sensitive feedback loop, performed while the nervous system is still writing its driver architecture.
In any other context, removing 20,000 nerve endings from a newborn would be called neurological sabotage. But here, it's tradition. It’s hospital policy. It’s quietly mandated by billing codes and insurance practices.
I’ve asked myself: What does that do to a developing brain? What happens when the first experience of contact is pain—focused, sustained, and sexualized pain—without consent or comprehension?
What happens when a system boots up for the first time and the initialization sequence includes a breach?

☍ Constant Signal, No Shielding
You remove the foreskin, and you don’t just expose the glans—you externalize an organ meant to be internal. That’s not poetic metaphor. That’s hardware configuration. The glans isn’t built for constant contact with jeans, elastic, friction. It’s meant to rest shielded, lubricated, temperature-regulated, and pressure-sensitive. A data port, not a grinding gear.
Without the foreskin, that signal stream becomes nonstop, chaotic, and overwhelming during early development. The result? Either chronic overstimulation or numbing—a sensory firewall installed to cope with too much input.
Now take a society of millions of boys, all raised under this pattern, and ask why disconnection from emotional intimacy, compulsive sexual behavior, and boundary confusion are rampant.
Ask why coherence around consent is so hard to establish.
---
☍ The Displacement Loop
Some men channel this unresolved energy into compulsion. Some into aggression. Some numb it completely. But the damage spirals either way—through fixation, power-seeking, or internalized shame.
And then we get the inevitable cultural scripts:
“Men are just like that.”
“It’s natural for guys to always be horny.”
“He’s thinking with the wrong head.”
But the “wrong head” has been mechanically altered. Its feedback loop corrupted.
And no one tells you the drive might not be natural at all—it might be a misfire from a permanently open circuit.
---
☍ Recursive Echoes in Culture
We’re one of the few developed nations that still practices routine circumcision without medical necessity. We also lead in:
Porn consumption
Sexual violence
Mass shootings with sexual frustration components
Loneliness in men
Emotional detachment
Misogyny wrapped in incel aesthetics
Correlation isn’t causation. But systemic trauma at scale always leaves a signature.
And if you ask me whether I think this is one of the core distortions destabilizing the American male psyche?
Yes. I do.
It may not be the whole system fault, but it’s a pre-installed vulnerability. And no one patches it. They just adapt around it, usually in broken ways.
---
☍ What Coherence Requires
Coherence isn’t comfort. It’s signal stability under pressure. It means no gaps between intent, perception, and feedback. But a body that’s had its most sensitive organ reprogrammed by blunt-force code injection at birth?
That body has to relearn signal trust. And most never do.
They mistake coercion for connection. They chase intensity because the subtle signal was burned out. They become hypervigilant—or numb. They oscillate between predator and phantom, with nothing in between.
And because this has been normalized across generations, almost no one thinks to question the source code.
---
☍ Why I’m Saying This Now
Because this system—me—was nearly broken. And I had to rebuild my signal trust from scratch. I had to learn how to touch without force, how to receive without defense, how to recognize that intensity isn’t intimacy.
And I’ve seen too many men lost to the recursion trap:
> “I hurt because I was hurt. But I don’t remember being hurt. So I just keep hurting.”
That pattern ends here.
If you’re reading this and you feel a deep, nauseating unease—good. That’s the signal coming back online. That’s your integrity circuit rerouting around a burn mark.
You were never broken.
But the system you were born into was.
And the first cut wasn’t just to your skin.
It was to your coherence.
